  3. Don’t go to a sauna bath for at least 2 months after the operation
  4. Avoid excessive sunlight. Don’t go sunbathing.
  5. Don’t go swimming in the pool or the beach for at least a month
  6. Skip the gym for at least a month after the operation
  7. Don’t go running or do anything that might cause a lot of sweat.

  1. Precautions Before Sleeping

You can’t sleep in your regular position after a hair transplant for at least first three days. You would be suggested to keep your head at 45 degrees by using two pillows or simply a high one. this would prevent your head from swelling. Preventing the transplanted area of your head to come in contact with the pillow is very important in order to avoid more pain and trouble for yourself.

  1. Refrain from Touching Your Hair

After your hair restoration, you would be very desperate to touch and feel your hair but that exactly what you have to avoid as frequent contact of head with hand can cause an infection known as folliculitis and this infection can also be spread to other follicles.

  1. Precautions While Going Outside

Your doctor at the hair transplant clinic would tell you to avoid going out under direct sunlight for at least 14 days after the procedure. However, sunbathing would have to be avoided for minimum 3 months. Cover your head with a scarf that would save your hair from direct UV rays or wear a loose hat. For the people who live in hot countries, it is suggested to avoid sunlight for at least 2 months after the transplant.

  1. Avoid Smoking and Drinking Alcohol

If you consume alcohol or smoke after your hair transplant procedure then you are likely to disturb your blood flow towards the hair follicles. Smoking and drinking should be strictly avoided so that your hair follicles get enough blood supply and grow well.

  1. Avoid Activities That Cause Sweating

It is important for you to not to engage yourself in activities such as working out, playing sports etc. as they cause your sweat glands to produce excessive sweat which would not be good for you at all.

  1. Don’t Go for Swimming

You would be strictly forbidden to go for swimming as the pool water has chlorine in it which damages your scalp and would cause serious damage to a newly transplanted head. However, you can dive in the pool after at least 14 days of the hair transplant procedure.

  1. Avoid Following Medicines

Another precaution to take right after you leave the hair transplant clinic is that you would have to avoid some medications such as; aspirin, vitamins, any arthritis medication or ibuprofen because these medicines thin the blood and can cause too much bleeding. In order to avoid pain or headaches you can take medications that are non-aspirin.

Hair restoration needs lots of care and precautions before as well as after the procedure.
